what
the faq is wears the trousers?
a new online magazine that doffs a jaunty-angled cap
to its US cousins & takes a resolutely anglocentric peek
at the world of women in music. it's a completely free,
not-for-profit, blood, sweat & tears included roundup
of
all that is new, essential & downright exciting about
the
contribution of women worldwide to the music industry.
so
you're firebreathing man-haters?
er,
no. some of us like men a whole lot actually. we're
just sick of the majority of the music press who seem to
fail to realise that rock/"credible" music
is not naturally
a male thing, but it is actively produced as such in line
with some ancient misconception that proliferates the
belief that what's a correct or incorrect behaviour for
a woman is different to that of a man. if that's a little
feministic for you, our equal opportunities schtick is
that we believe that female artists, & british female
artists in particular, go under-represented in the media.
either way, this is our way of celebrating their music.
righty-o,
but what's with all the orange?
it's
the editor's favourite colour so lump it.
so
what's on offer here?
this
is the only place on the net with a dedicated &
up-to-date news service specifically for women in
music. we also feature excellent in-depth reviews of
as many releases as possible, together with interviews,
retrospective career pieces & occasional special
reports.
you'll also find introductions to all the hottest new
artists you really don't want to miss - it's our mission
(& we've chosen to accept it) to keep you informed
so
we can support these artists & give them the exposure
they deserve.
anything else?
yeah,
we'll point you in the right direction to find all the
best legal MP3s you can get your audiophilic hands on.
golly, we might even host our own exclusives one day.
but what really makes us the kindest, most generous
webzine in the world is that we want to encourage you
to get the blazes away from your VDUs every once in
a
while. yes, to save you being glued to the screen, we
are also rather handily available to download in PDF
format as a quarterly issue. hence, you can rest your
poor 21st century eyes & enjoy us in all environs.
fab! but how can i get involved?
if
you're a budding music writer or just an all-round
music nut who knows their way around a pocket
thesaurus, we'd love to hear from you. you can send
your work to greetings@thetrousers.co.uk
& we'll get
back to you. we pride ourselves on the quality of our
reporting so please don't be offended if we have to
put
our editing hats on.
if you're an artist, an artist's agent or just some
weirdo
who likes sending people CDs, we are very happy to
receive discs for review (be they albums, singles, EPs
or even demos). we try to ensure everything we receive
gets a mention!
Please send the discs (preferably with a press release
but a post-it with your name on will do) to:

ok, nice blag, but what if i'm a photographer who's
really
annoyed that you've used one of my pics
without
permission?
please
send us an email & we'll credit you or take it
down immediately. you know what this big web thing's
like, it's so hard to figure out who took what photo.
please don't sue us, we've spent all our money on this
website & have nothing to give you but our thieving,
er, borrowing magpie souls & a squillion hail marys.
are
we done yet? my scrolling finger hurts.
